Circular meat at Stadsjochies!

In collaboration with ExtraordinaryPigs, the pigs are given a role in nature management by Stadsjochies and have maximum animal welfare.

Why do we partner with Extraordinary Pigs?

At Stadsjochies, we are always looking for sustainable and circular solutions to the challenges nature gives us. For this reason, we have partnered with ExtraordinaryPigs, we strive for an ethical approach to meat production. With us, the pigs have been able to root, scratch and laze around. This allows us to both produce quality meat and respect the pigs' welfare.

Nutritious soil

At our site, we are not only fortunate to welcome pigs that are allowed to roam freely for a year, but they also play a vital role in promoting our sustainable cultivation. With their natural instinct to root, our extraordinary pigs use their noses as little ploughs, stirring up the soil and aerating it naturally.

From head to tail

At Stadsjochies, we strive to use every part of the pig, from head to tail, to take a respectful approach to food production and provide a maximum taste experience. We believe in the importance of sustainability and want to offer you, the guest, a unique culinary experience that is both delicious and ethical. From succulent chops to flavourful ham, and from mouth-watering pork belly to heart-warming broth, every piece of meat has a purpose and is prepared with love.

Menu for the pigs

For us, it is not only about what ends up on our guests' plates, but also about what is on the menu for our pigs. We believe in minimising food waste and using every possible means to provide our pigs with a healthy and balanced diet. Therefore, we use an innovative approach by feeding our pigs with cutting waste from our kitchen and surplus harvest that we can no longer process. Every season brings forth an abundance of delicious fruits and vegetables, we process, dry and/or ferment the produce and if there is anything left over then our pigs have an extra feast.
