At Stadsjochies, a vegetable symbolises each season. For autumn, it is the carrot: earthy, versatile and one of the last crops we harvest before winter sets in. With its deep colours and rich flavour, the carrot marks the transition to the colder months and reminds us of the bounty of the harvest season. A sign that nature is slowly settling down and the greenhouse is preparing for a new season.

Local suppliers
At Stadsjochies, we cook with home-grown ingredients as much as possible. What we cannot grow ourselves, we prefer to get from local farmers and suppliers in Utrecht. This way, we make sure we always serve you a responsible, local and sustainable dish. Short lines, fresh products and respect for the season - you can taste that in every bite!
Nature works and we work with it, that is our philosophy.
We grow on clay soil, using the best seeds which are harvested fresh every day. We love our plants and you can see and taste that. We sow with love, ensure quality and harvest great flavour. That is 'The taste of real'. Our chef Pieter Jobse will be happy to tell you how we do it.

This concept symbolises everything we do. It is with pride and great enthusiasm that we have made a sizeable plot of land available to anyone in Utrecht who would like to run their own urban vegetable garden. Our aim? To set up an inspiring initiative where gardening is not only good for your mind and hands, but also makes a positive contribution to the neighbourhood and the wider community.
